The UK Government’s Circular Economy Taskforce aims to develop a Circular Economy Strategy for England, focusing on maximising resource efficiency, reducing waste, and driving economic growth while accelerating net-zero goals.
The Taskforce will collaborate with industry, academia, and government to create evidence-driven strategies and sector-specific roadmaps addressing resource circularity.
Key objectives include stimulating investment, creating jobs, and ensuring supply chain security. Spanning a two-phase process from 2024 to 2025, it will establish metrics for progress, policy pathways, and behavioral change initiatives to enable a systemic transition. The work aligns with broader government missions such as economic growth and clean energy leadership, emphasising interagency collaboration and engagement with devolved governments to ensure comprehensive policy integration.
