The Procurement Policy Note (PPN) on Improving Transparency of AI Use in Procurement provides guidance on managing risks and opportunities associated with AI adoption in government procurement. Updated in February 2025, it applies to central government departments, executive agencies, and non-departmental public bodies, with recommendations for other public sector organisations. The PPN aligns with the Procurement Act 2023 and Procurement Regulations 2024, effective 24 February 2025. It encourages disclosure of AI usage in tender submissions, implementing proportionate risk controls, and ensuring AI-generated content is accurate. The guidance promotes due diligence, supplier transparency, and responsible AI adoption, particularly where national security or data sensitivity is a concern.
