The Procurement Policy Note (PPN) on the Armed Forces Covenant outlines guidance for central government departments, executive agencies, and non-departmental public bodies on encouraging suppliers to sign the Armed Forces Covenant. The Covenant is a public pledge from government, businesses, and charities to support the Armed Forces community, ensuring they face no disadvantage due to their service and receive special consideration where needed. This PPN, updated in February 2025, aligns with the Procurement Act 2023 and Procurement Regulations 2024, applying to procurements commencing from 24 February 2025. While signing the Covenant is voluntary and not a condition for contracts, the government encourages suppliers to show their support through employment policies for veterans, reservists, and military families, as well as fair treatment in services.
