  5. State of the World’s Trees – Botanic Gardens Conservation International

Over the past five years research has been conducted to compile the extinction risk for 58,497 tree species worldwide. 30% of tree species are threatened with extinction, and at least 142 tree species are recorded as extinct in the wild.

Now we know for the first time which of the world’s trees are at risk of extinction and why! The recommendations outlined by Botanic Gardens Conservation International link directly with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which seeks to end poverty, conserve biodiversity, combat climate change and improve livelihoods for everyone, everywhere.
